The Commons Treasury Committee have stated that it is “not credible” to claim there would be a Brexit “deal dividend” and warned that “there is an inconsistency” in the Chancellor’s claims about the fiscal impact of Brexit.
Commenting, Dr Paul Williams MP, a leading supporter of People’s Vote, said:
“There is no Brexit dividend: the Treasury Committee could not be clearer.
“Brexit is already leaving us worse off – with household income down by £1500 compared to the time of the referendum.
“Before we plunge deeper into the Brexit mess, and now we know more about the costs and risks, it is essential that the public are given the final say in a People’s Vote: do they want to continue with Brexit or do they want to keep the deal we currently have as members of the European Union?”
