The Foreign Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, is visiting Washington and will deliver a speech calling for the EU to apply more sanctions on Russia and to warn of the dangers of a "messy divorce" from the EU.
Commenting, Chuka Umunna MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:
“Jeremy Hunt is trying to adopt more positions than a yoga teacher, but his Government’s bad deal or no-deal Brexit will tie Britain in knots.
“The Foreign Secretary has flown to Washington to claim that Europe needs to come together to stand firm against Russia, while at home he is presiding over a disastrous bad deal or no-deal Brexit that will see Britain lose diplomatic standing while damaging European unity.
“Britain’s reputation and ability to influence international events will only be weakened by the chaos of a bad deal or no-deal Brexit. If he wants to stand up for Britain, Jeremy Hunt should listen to the millions of people back home who want to take back control of the shambolic Brexit process and demand a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal.”
