Umunna – Good to see a minister putting their country before their party

Another minister, Guto Bebb, has resigned tonight after voting against the Government on an ERG-backed amendment to the Brexit Customs Bill.

Commenting, Chuka Umunna MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:

“It’s good to see a minister putting their country before their party and their career, and more should follow Guto Bebb’s example.

“This is a question of who governs Britain, the hard right Brexiters on the Conservative backbenches or the people?

"With the Government again dancing to the tune of Jacob Rees-Mogg and his band of Brextremists, it’s hardly surprising that calls are growing for a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal, including among Conservative MPs.”
