Poundworld – hit very hard by the devaluation that followed the 2016 referendum - is to disappear from Britain’s high streets and another 2,339 jobs are to go.
All remaining shops are to close by 10 August and the chain’s warehouse will close tomorrow.
Commenting, Gareth Thomas MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:
“This is terrible news for everyone who works in a Poundworld store or in Poundworld’s warehouse. My thoughts are with them.
“Poundworld has been killed by the pound’s collapse after the Brexit referendum. It is essential there is a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal before we take any irreversible decisions about our economic future.”
