Labour Market statistics published by the ONS show the number of EU nationals working in the UK fell by 61,000 over the year.
Responding, Rosie Duffield MP, a leading supporter of People’s Vote, said:
“The uncertainty over Brexit means it is sadly no surprise that tens of thousands of EU nationals have left Britain over the past year, and that fewer people want to come here to contribute to our society and our economy. Brexit is already damaging our NHS, our universities and industry and means less money for public services.
“EU citizens work in our hospitals, our schools and our businesses. They are our friends, our neighbours and our families. No-one voted for a Brexodus of EU citizens who contribute greatly to our economy and to our public services. The truth is there is no form of Brexit that is as good as the deal we've already got in the EU or can meet the impossible promises made for it in 2016. That is why EU citizens will join people from every corner of the United Kingdom marching through London on March 23rd, demanding they have the final say on Brexit. It's time to put it to the people.”
