Responding to Home Secretary Priti Patel’s speech to Conservative Party conference, Kate Green MP, leading supporter of People’s Vote, said:
“Priti Patel says she supports the police, but in reality she supports a No Deal Brexit that will leave the police hobbled in the fight against crime.
“A No Deal means the end of British participation in EuroPol, it means the end of the European arrest warrant and it means an immediate block on sharing all sorts of data amongst police forces fighting international crime and terrorism.
“Any Brexit deal will make it harder to tackle crime because it puts barriers in the way of international co-operation against terrorists and criminal networks.
“And whether it is No Deal or a Boris Johnson deal, Brexit will mean years of wrangling about data sharing and extradition laws.
“We cannot trust Priti Patel or Boris Johnson to make the right decisions on fighting international crime. Instead we should trust the people to have the final say on Brexit in a People’s Vote.”
