Murray – whether it is no deal, Chequers or something else, Brexit is already making us poorer

The Government are today publishing their latest set of warning notices about the threat of a no deal Brexit to Britain.

Commenting, Ian Murray MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:

“Brexit is already making us poorer, putting prices up in the shops, hammering the pound and costing jobs and investment.

“On the day the Government publish their latest ‘no deal’ warnings one thing we know is that whether we get Theresa May’s car crash Brexit, Jacob Rees Mogg’s Canadian catastrophe Brexit or the shambles of a no deal Brexit, things will only get worse. The mess of Brexit will see Britain relegated to Europe’s second division, with the NHS forced to stockpile medicines, our companies snared in red tape, and holiday makers threatened with new bills, queues and inconvenience.

“Nobody voted to make Britain poorer, to diminish our national influence or to ruin their holidays. The Government has no mandate for any of this and it’s too big an issue to be left to a Brexit elite in Westminster. That is why we must have a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal.”
