The new Brexit Secretary, Dominic Raab, travelled to Brussels and met Michel Barnier, the EU’s Brexit negotiator. Mr Raab said he will be “heating up” the Brexit negotiations.
Commenting, Ian Murray MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:
“The new Brexit Secretary is pledging to ‘heat up’ the Brexit negotiations, but based on how everything has gone so far we’re likely to end up with nothing better than a warm cup of sick as a result.
“Dominic Raab will be presenting a proposal to the EU that his own party has already torpedoed in the House of Commons, and that we already know has no chance of passing. Even if it did, it would be a bad deal for the country that satisfies nobody.
“With the negotiations a mess, with Parliament paralysed and with a disastrous no deal Brexit looking ever more likely, we need a People’s Vote on the terms of Brexit before it’s too late.”
