A new poll for NatCen reports a majority of people reject Brexit as the best choice for the country.
Commenting, Ian Murray MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:
“This summer has shown that the campaigners for Brexit – whether they back Theresa May’s proposals or Jacob Rees-Mogg’s plans – are motived not by the national interest but their personal interest. Each twist and turn in the negotiations, every manoeuvre, has been driven by the career and ambitions of a few at the top to the exclusion of the British people.
“At the same time, it has become obvious that the Brexit we were promised can never be delivered. Instead of extra money for the NHS we are getting a massive divorce bill and are having to stockpile medicine. Instead of global trade deals we are struggling to keep access to our biggest market and prices are already rising in the shops. It is the reality of the mess that is turning more and more towards supporting a People’s Vote on whatever final deal emerges from the mess of the negotiations.
“The longer the politicians at the top ignore this demand, the louder the call for a People’s Vote will become.”
