Murray – BMW warning shows Brexit could inflict “grave economic damage”

BMW are today warning that Brexit could force UK plant closures if it leads to delays in importing components from Europe.

Commenting, Ian Murray MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:

“The Brexit that was sold to the British people was based on a promise of a brighter future, but the Brexit that's being delivered threatens to cause grave economic damage to our country and inflict countless job losses.

“The number of warnings from major businesses supporting hundreds of thousands of jobs in the UK are increasing every day. Airbus, BMW, Siemens and others are all calling for the Government to listen to their concerns about a hard, destructive Brexit. But the only response they get from ministers are foul-mouthed threats to keep their mouths shut.

“Saturday's huge March for a People's Vote, with over 100,000 in attendance, showed that the British people have had enough of ministers who are willing to pursue a Brexit at any cost, no matter how many jobs are lost as a result. Instead, growing numbers are now demanding a People's Vote on the final Brexit deal so that the people of this country can decide whether or not the terms on offer are good enough.”
