McMorrin – New GDP figures show Brexit is already making our country poorer

New GDP figures show that economic growth in October was just 0.1%, slowing projected Q4 growth.

Commenting, Anna McMorrin MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:

“Brexit is already making our country poorer, hitting wages, damaging the value of the pound and, as today’s figures show, strangling economic growth. That’s before we’ve even left, and the Government’s own figures show any form of Brexit would leave us all much worse off than our current deal in the EU.

“In 2016, people were promised a brighter future, a stronger economy and more money for the NHS if they voted to leave. Instead what’s being delivered is a worse future, a weaker economy and less money available for the NHS, as well as EU nurses and doctors leaving in droves.

“The Government’s Brexit deal would only continue the uncertainty for years to come, as it leaves all the big questions unanswered. That uncertainty means the economy would continue to struggle. The only way forward now is to have a People’s Vote, so the country can compare the Brexit deal on offer with our current deal in the EU. And with Brexit not living up to what was promised, everyone has the right to change their minds.”
