McGovern – Three-day week at JLR another sign of the cost of Brexit

Workers at Jaguar Land Rover’s Castle Bromwich plant are to be placed on a three-day week in the run up to Christmas.

Commenting, Alison McGovern MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:

The news that JLR’s Castle Bromwich plant is going on to a three-day week is deeply worrying and is further evidence of how Brexit is already damaging our economy and making life harder and less certain for millions of people.

Only hours after arch-Brextremist Bernard Jenkin claimed JLR's warnings about Brexit were made up, the reality is very clear.

Prices are rising in the shops, holidays are becoming more expensive and, as today’s news shows, uncertainty – especially for those who work in skilled manufacturing – is spreading.

This is why the demand for a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal is growing every day. Brexit is a big deal, but it is not a done deal.”
