The negative impact of the threat of Brexit on the Northern Ireland economy is growing according to the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce, with close to one-third (32%) of companies surveyed saying Brexit is having an adverse impact on their business, compared to one-fifth (20%) two years ago.
Commenting, Alison McGovern MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:
“Northern Ireland is uniquely vulnerable to a botched Brexit. It shares a land border with another EU member state, it has a weakened system of government with devolution now having been in suspense for over 18 months and with the peace process in danger of being derailed by the prospect of a hard border.
“Now we know that the negative economic impacts of Brexit are accelerating. No part of the UK needs the clarity a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal would bring more than Northern Ireland.”
