Inflation has surged to 2.7%, well above market expectations and again showing that the instability brought about by Brexit is squeezing households.
Commenting, Alison McGovern MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote, said:
“This rise is consistent with fears that the threat of Brexit is already pushing up prices. After a decade of stagnant real wage levels, this is the last thing Britain needs.
“Nobody voted for this and today we are publishing our roadmap to a People’s Vote, showing how Parliament could very easily – if it wished – guarantee the public a vote on the final deal before the end of the Article 50 timetable.
“It has never been clearer that while Brexit is a big deal, it’s not a done deal.”
