Two days of “ping pong” on the EU Withdrawal Bill have finished in the House of Commons
Commenting, Caroline Lucas MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:
“The last two days have shown how divided Parliament and the Government are. It is plain that the leaderships of both major parties are struggling to convince significant numbers of their own parties they are taking the right path on Brexit.
“All the things we were promised: more money for the NHS, a jobs-first Brexit, frictionless trade, a soft border in Ireland and the exact same benefits as now are all being ditched by Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn.
“Instead we are getting a massive divorce bill, a threat to the peace process in Ireland and red tape by the barrel.
“With promises being broken and new facts about the costs and risks of Brexit constantly emerging, more people are realising that while Brexit is a big deal it’s not a done deal and are joining the demand for a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal.’
