The British regional airline flybmi, which employs almost 400 staff, has announced tonight it has ceased operations and is filing for administration, saying that it has been “seriously affected by the uncertainty created by the Brexit process”.
Responding, Chris Leslie MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote, said:
“The collapse of flybmi, which tonight jeopardises the jobs of almost 400 staff and the plans of many thousands of passengers, is the latest blow to UK business caused by Brexit.
“The effects of uncertainty and a lack of investment caused by the Government’s disastrous plans for Brexit are now starting to be seen clearly in business and manufacturing, costing jobs and putting livelihoods at risk.
“No-one voted for a Brexit deal that undermines British business or costs jobs. This growing crisis shows why the only way forward is to give the public a final say with a People’s Vote.”
