A new report has been published by The Constitution Unit at UCL, entitled ‘The Mechanics of a Further Referendum on Brexit’. It finds that a People’s Vote on the Brexit deal is “clearly possible”.
Commenting, Lord John Kerr, one of the architects of Article 50 and author of ‘Roadmap to a People’s Vote’ said:
“This is a welcome contribution to the debate. Like our own ‘Roadmap to a People's Vote’, published a month ago, it confirms that there are no insurmountable hurdles, if the political will is there.
“Informed public consent is essential. The negotiation process means that we will all be much better informed when it ends than we were in 2016. The outcome should be put to the people.”
