Huge coach fleet prepares to bring people from all corners of the country to London on October 19th, for enormous Final Say march

A fleet of over 170 coaches is being mobilised to bring thousands to London on Saturday 19th October, as campaigners prepare to march for a final say on Brexit.

In one of the largest protest marches Britain has ever seen, people from every corner of the UK will tell Boris Johnson loud and clear that he cannot inflict a hard and destructive Brexit on the UK without first seeking the people’s democratic consent in a final say referendum.

The coaches will come from as far north as Inverness (554 miles) and as far south as Truro (283 miles). 10 coaches will bring people from across Scotland and over 20 coaches will make the trip from Wales.

Dozens of coaches are coming from areas that voted to leave back in 2016, with campaign groups filling busses from Lincolnshire, Derby, Darlington and the Welsh Valleys.

The march comes as recent polls show growing support for a People’s Vote, with 47% backing a final say referendum on any deal Boris Johnson manages to negotiate with Europe (compared to 29% who want the issue settled by MPs in Parliament), rising to 52% if the alternative is No Deal (compared to 23% who want MPs to decide)

The 19th October march, from Park Lane to Parliament Square, will begin at 12 Noon.

David Lammy MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:

“On Saturday 19th October the people of the United Kingdom will come together to tell Boris Johnson loud and clear he must seek our consent before he inflicts his Brexit on our country. Whether it’s a deal or No Deal, the Brexit the Prime Minister is planning bears no relation to the promises made back in 2016 and it threatens immense harm to our economy, our prosperity, our young people and our United Kingdom.

“Support for a People’s Vote is growing, and on Saturday 19th a fleet of busses and coaches from all parts of the UK will bring people to London to have their say. It will be a huge democratic moment for our country as we say loud and clear that, whatever you think about Brexit, the only clear way out of this mess is to give the people the final say.”

Ken Lamden is chair of People’s Vote West Lancashire and is coming down by coach to the march:

“For over three years, hard-working activists and campaigners in every corner of the United Kingdom have been manning street stalls, delivering leaflets, and making the case for a People’s Vote to settle the Brexit issue once and for all. Now we are coming together, in London, travelling from all parts of the country to demand our voice is heard, and to tell our politicians we want a final say on Brexit.”
