Reports this morning say Jacob Rees-Mogg and the ERG intend to draw up a blueprint for a ‘positive’ hard Brexit.
Commenting, Stephen Doughty MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:
“Brextremists who still believe there is a ‘positive’ side to a no deal Brexit are either guilty of attempting to pull a vast con-trick on the British people, or are suffering from a mass delusion.
“There are no upsides to a no deal Brexit. Our security would be put at risk and criminal investigations jeopardised. Arguing that Britain could crash out of our current agreements and not suffer serious consequences is a reckless fantasy, and it is hard to escape the conclusion that the people behind this report know all this but simply don’t care.
“The only way to take back control of this process from the Brextremists who would damage our national interest to pursue their ideological ends is with a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal.”
