Michel Barnier today warned that the UK and EU may not reach an agreement by the October EU Summit deadline.
Commenting, Stephen Doughty MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:
“The Brexit talks are in such a shambolic state that any hope of securing a comprehensive deal before the October deadline is rapidly evaporating.
“Theresa May’s Brexit plan is so unsatisfactory and riddled with contradictions that the threat of a ‘no deal Brexit’ or a ‘blind Brexit’ is now rising by the day.
“With every delay we move closer to the cliff-edge. Gambling with the country’s future like this in the desperate hope of an eleventh hour compromise simply is not good enough. We need a People’s Vote to ensure the Government can’t force a bad deal or no deal Brexit on the British people.”
