The Independent are reporting that draft conclusions of the European Council point to little progress being made on a Brexit deal.
Commenting, Stephen Doughty MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:
“With the Government making an utter mess of the negotiations, we are no nearer to a solution to the key problems of Brexit than we were three months ago.
“Ministers are trapped by Theresa May’s red lines. She says she wants no hard border in Ireland and no new barriers to trade, and also that she wants to leave the Customs Union and the Single Market. These two sets of demands are incompatible and continue to drive the Brexit negotiations towards the rocks.
“The promises made about Brexit are being broken daily and the uncertainty is causing growing economic damage. The Government cannot deliver the Brexit that was promised, and Parliament is deeply divided: that is why so many will be marching on Parliament this Saturday to demand a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal.”
