The website Mumsnet has conducted a survey of its members in which it found that 7 out of 10 support a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal.
60% of survey respondents said they felt misled by claims made by campaigners in the 2016 referendum, including 41% who said they felt misled by claims made by the Leave campaign.
Commenting, Caroline Criado-Perez, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:
“This survey of Mumsnet users is yet more evidence of the decisive shift in favour of a People’s Vote that we have seen this summer. Women across the country will be hit hardest by Brexit and to date women’s voices have been under-represented and the issues that affect women have been drowned out.
“The evidence shows that women are more concerned than men with the dangers of the upheaval that Brexit will cause in jobs, living standards and for the future — and they are right to be. The 2016 referendum asked us to vote blind on one of the most important issues of our lifetimes. That’s why we are fighting for our right to make this choice with our eyes open, and demanding a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal.”
