Campaigners set to take to the streets for largest ever People’s Vote National Day of Action

Groups campaigning for a People’s Vote will be out in force this Saturday (29 September) for the largest ever People’s Vote National Day of Action, with over 100 groups taking part across the UK.

Activists and supporters from the People’s Vote campaign will take to the streets across the UK this Saturday in order to demand their right to a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal.

There will be over 100 local groups participating, in towns and cities the length and breadth of the country, in areas that voted both Remain and Leave. Over 2000 activists and supporters are expected to take part, with more than 1000 door to door leafleting sessions organised and over 1 million leaflets handed out.

Ahead of Conservative Party conference this weekend, Conservative MPs who support a People’s Vote will be out campaigning with local groups in their constituencies. Other People’s Vote-supporting MPs and MEPs from all major political parties will join their local groups across the UK.

This People’s Vote National Day of Action follows on from the hugely successful People’s Vote Summer of Action, which saw mass rallies take place in Bristol, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Cambridge and Cardiff. This is all leading up to the People’s Vote and The Independent March for the Future in London on October 20th, which organisers expect to be the largest Brexit-related march so far, larger even than the previous People’s Vote march which was attended by over 100,000 people.

David Gwyther, Field Manager at the People’s Vote campaign, said:

“Our largest ever day of action this Saturday will be a fantastic demonstration of the levels of support across the country for a People’s Vote on the terms of Brexit.

“Thousands of volunteers and campaigners will be taking part across the whole UK, in areas that voted both leave and remain in 2016. The facts have changed massively since then and people want to make their voices heard on Brexit through a People’s Vote.

“Brexit is going to affect generations for generations, so it’s only right that everyone gets a say in the path we take, not just 650 MPs in Westminster. That’s why we are demanding a People’s Vote on the terms of Brexit.”
