The House of Commons is to debate the Government’s refusal to release legal advice on Brexit to MPs.
Commenting, Chris Bryant MP, a leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said
“The House of Commons was very clear that the full legal advice to the Cabinet should be supplied to Members of Parliament.
“The refusal of the Government to comply sends a very clear message about the Brexit deal – that it is bad for Britain, satisfies nobody and will weaken our economy and our voice in the world.
“The deal means a ‘blindfold Brexit’ and the debate about our relationship with the EU going on forever, with all the big questions unanswered.
“Ministers are determined to keep the facts under wrap though. They cannot give a straight answer to the question of whether the deal will leave us worse off, because they know that it will. And they cannot bring themselves to release the legal advice even after our sovereign Parliament has instructed them to do just that.
“The cover up has to end.
“And now we know what Brexit looks like, the public should be given the opportunity to decide in a People’s Vote – is this the kind of deal we want, or is the deal we already have in the EU better? In the end, only the people can sort this out.”
