The Home Affairs Select Committee have today (Tuesday) released a report that condemns the lack of progress on security issues in the Brexit negotiations.
Commenting, Ben Bradshaw MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:
“The Government have never got to grips with the security implications of Brexit. The reckless insistence on leaving the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice has made it all but impossible to conclude a comprehensive security agreement with the EU if Brexit takes place.
“Nobody voted to weaken our security and these issues were hardly – if ever – discussed at the time of the referendum. That is why more and more people concerned about security and the need to maintain a strong and co-ordinated response to terrorism and crime are uniting behind the demand for a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal. If there has been paralysis and rigidity in the negotiations, then a People’s Vote is the opportunity to break the logjam.”
