Emily Thornberry has today told the Financial Times that the Labour Party will vote against the Government’s Brexit deal in Parliament.
Commenting, Ben Bradshaw MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:
“A vote against Brexit in Parliament alone isn’t enough to clear up Theresa May’s mess, and there’s no majority in Parliament for a General Election, which leaves a real danger of Britain sliding out of the EU with no deal in place.
“With so much at stake from Brexit for jobs, rights at work and our public services it is right that the country - not just politicians - get to have a say on whatever outcome the Government negotiates on our behalf.
“That’s why Labour should listen to trade unionists and Labour members and back a People’s Vote on any Brexit deal.”
