The Health Secretary Matt Hancock, in evidence to the Commons Health Committee this afternoon, stated that the NHS would receive a £20.5 billion increase in funding regardless of the outcome of any votes on Brexit.
Commenting, Ben Bradshaw MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign and member of the committee, said:
“The Health Secretary has told the Health Committee that additional funding for the NHS will come regardless of the outcome of any votes on Brexit.
“Matt Hancock has finally admitted what we all know is true – that there is no Brexit dividend.
“Leaving the EU will land us with a £50 billion bill for no say. It will see the European Medicines Agency leave the UK and it will make it more difficult to access innovative treatments and medicines.
“A People’s Vote would give us the chance of staying in the EU as full voting members with our current deal or leaving under the miserable deal negotiated by the Government. And the good news is that Matt Hancock has confirmed the increase in health spending will stay if we vote to stay in the EU.”
