Today’s talks in Brussels have failed to reach agreement and the Prime Minister will have to return on Saturday.
Commenting, Guto Bebb MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:
“The draft withdrawal agreement and the political declaration between them add up to a blindfold Brexit, and in whatever form they are eventually agreed we face the prospect of years of confusion, uncertainty and lost investment: all the time trapped as a rule taker and paying billions for no say.
“Saturday’s trip to Brussels would only be the first by a supplicant British Prime Minister, of whatever party, to be made in the desperate hope that the EU might grant concessions or renegotiate this or that aspect of this miserable deal.
“It is clear if we give up our membership of the EU we will be surrendering power and influence, and risking prosperity on an unprecedented scale. No one voted for that in 2016. That is why the British people are increasingly demanding they have the final say on all this with a People’s Vote that allows us to judge whatever we are eventually offered against our current deal as full voting members.”
