Responding to the resignation of Dominic Raab, the Brexit Secretary, this morning, Guto Bebb MP, a leading supporter of People’s Vote, said:
“Dominic Raab resigning, the second Brexit Secretary to do so in a matter of months, just proves again how big the promise gap has become between the Brexit that was promised and the one that’s being delivered.
“The Prime Minister cannot claim she has any democratic legitimacy for her bad Brexit now that even more members of her own Cabinet are resigning in protest. It would be a disaster for our country, giving up control and paying at least £50 billion for a worse deal than the one we have already.
“With the Government and Parliament now utterly paralysed, the only democratic way forward is to give the final say on Brexit back to the country through a People’s Vote, so everyone can compare the botched Brexit on offer to the deal we have now as a member of the EU.”
