Telefonica have announced that the expected floatation of mobile telephone network O2 on the UK stock market has been postponed because of Brexit.
Commenting, Wes Streeting MP, leading supporter of a People’s Vote, said:
“The warning that O2’s flotation is being put on hold is the latest in a long line of warnings that the Brexit mess is damaging Britain’s business confidence, coming after the CBI warned that 8 out of 10 businesses thought Brexit has already had a negative effect on investment decisions.
“Whatever the outcome of the Brexit negotiations it is completely clear that whether we get a bad deal or no deal Brexit we are heading for a miserable outcome for Britain.
“Absolutely nobody voted for this mess and the level of public anger and concern at the disaster that Brexit is rapidly becoming was shown by the 700,000 crowd at the People’s Vote March this weekend. The politicians in Westminster cannot sort this out and there is no majority in Parliament for any sort of Brexit and that is why we must have a People’s Vote on the outcome of the Brexit negotiations."
